Brian Hudson

Musician, recording artist and session drummer Brian Hudson has built a reputation as a reliable, creative and versatile drummer, who has worked with a wide variety of artists from around the world covering various genres. Currently, Brian maintains a busy schedule as a studio/remote session drummer, touring with Billboard Charting Smooth Jazz Artist Carol Albert and performing with his original jazz/fusion band and his jazz/fusion trio.

Brian began his musical journey in Clearwater, Florida where he took private lessons, played in bands and attended the University of South Florida School of Music in nearby Tampa.  He later moved to Athens, Georgia where he attended The University of Georgia and became immersed in the diverse music scene that Athens had to offer.

Over the past 20 years, Brian has toured and/or recorded with dozens of artists and producers from around the world including with Capricorn Recording Artist MEMORY DEAN, Grammy Award winning producer Mark Neill (Black Keys/Charley Crockett), Billboard Charting Smooth Jazz Artist Carol Albert, leading contestants on The Voice and American Idol, high energy original soul/funk band SOULHOUND, original jazz/fusion band Next Level, pop/rock duo from England O’Connell & Love, Australian acoustic/soul artist Tom Francis, and many others.

As a band leader, Brian released his debut album, Next Level, in 2017 and just recently released a 3-song EP on September 17, 2021. To create this project, Brian partnered and collaborated with composer, producer and Blue Canoe Recording Artist Randy Hoexter to write and arrange a series of original songs. The songs blend jazz, jazz/fusion, funk, and Latin with a contemporary jazz underpinning and feature some of the most talented musicians on the planet.  Since its release in 2017, NEXT LEVEL has gained attention from radio stations and listeners from all around the world and has received glowing reviews from a wide mix of jazz and music publications and blogs. The album peaked at #3 on the Roots Music Report Jazz Chart, #7 on the NACC Top 30 Jazz Chart, spent 9 weeks on Jazz Week’s Top 100 Chart, was on Jazz Week’s Biggest Gainer Chart and the track, “Seventy-Eight,” was featured on the music sampler for Issue 63 of Drumhead Magazine. Already, AHAYA has received rave reviews and the first single, Luna Sea, hit #1 on the Roots Music Report’s Fusion Chart.

In addition to his live work and leading his jazz/fusion band, Brian is an in-demand studio and remote session drummer who has built an impressive list of domestic and international clients who regularly call on him to provide creative, musical and groove oriented drum tracks for their songs. To help create the best acoustical sound possible for his space, he consulted with sound design engineers from GIK Acoustics to create an incredible sounding tracking room. Today, Brian owns and operates Lakeside Sound Studios, just outside of Atlanta, where he partners with artists and producers from around the world to provide custom drum tracks for their projects.

Brian is a voting member of The Recording Academy (The GRAMMYs), a “Top Rated Studio Pro” on AirGigs, serves on the Advisory Board for Georgia Music Partners and is a passionate advocate for the music industry in Georgia.
